Wet dream is a natural phenomenon that occurs to both the male and female gender. Wet dreams are sometimes called nocturnal emissions. Nocturnal emission is spontaneous and involuntary orgasm during sleep which includes ejaculation for a male and vaginal wetness for a female.

Wet dreams usually begin during puberty and continue to early adulthood; however, there are few exceptions. Males generally experience more wet dreams than females, and its frequency is solely personal to the individual.

While some studies have linked the frequency of wet dreams to masturbation, science is yet to prove if any correlation exists between the two. Some noteworthy facts about wet dreams are:
• They sometimes occur when a person dreams about sex. They also sometimes occur when the penis is accidentally stimulated by the clothing during sleep
• They cannot be controlled nor stopped
• Wet dreams can be experienced by adults
• They can occur regularly regardless of the frequency of sex or masturbation
• The absence of wet dreams does not indicate the existence of sexual health problems

A number of teens worry about wet dreams and believe its dirty and something to be ashamed about. On the contrary, wet dreams are perfectly normal and a part of the growing process for teenagers. With time, it’s most likely that it would be outgrown, and even if it isn’t, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.
