The gunmen who abducted German archaeologist, Prof. Peter Breunij and his associate, Johannes Buringer in Jenjela village near Kaduna on Wednesday, have contacted the colleagues of the professor and demanded N60 million as ransom on the two men.
The kidnappers, a source at Jenjela village, Kagarko local government area of Kaduna State, who prefers not to be named, said the abductors called the line of the camp supervisor around 11:00 am and demanded N30 million as payment on each of the two men with them.
The source said the male voice who spoke on behalf of the abductors warned associates of the professor against involving the police and other security agencies in the bid to rescue the professor and his associate and advised them to source the money as soon as they could.
Security operatives had arrived Jenjela as early as 7:00 am yesterday combing the place in the bid to rescue the archaeologists while a helicopter constantly flew round the bushes in a rescue mission.
